Robert Rodriguez's Sin City: A Dame To Kill For may be one of the few projects in history that has added the bulk of its cast only after the start of production. Cameras began rolling down in Texas all the way back in late October, and in the months since the production has added high quality stars like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin, Dennis Haysbert, Christopher Meloni, Ray Liotta, Juno Temple, Jeremy Piven and even convinced Bruce Willis to return as ex-cop John Hartigan. But Rodriguez still isn't done - mostly because he still hasn't found his leading lady. But that wait is officially over.
We have been waiting to find out which actress would end up playing the part of femme fatale Ava Lord in the main story of Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and today Dimension Films has revealed their choice. Eva Green, who was last seen in Tim Burton's Dark Shadows and will play Artemisia in the upcoming 300: Rise of An Empire, has signed on for the new graphic novel adaptation. She will largely be playing opposite Brolin in the movie, who plays her ex-lover. The character is described by co-director Frank Miller as "every man’s most glorious dreams come true, she’s also every man’s darkest nightmares," while the two directors released a statement about Green's casting saying,
"We’ve been wanting to tell this story for a very long time. Ava Lord is one of the most deadly and fascinating residents of Sin City. From the start, we knew that the actor would need to be able to embody the multifaceted characteristics of this femme fatale and we found that in Eva Green. We are ecstatic that Eva is joining us."
But she's not the only new actress joining the cast today. The studio has also revealed that up-and-coming actress Julia Garner has also signed up for a part and will play a "young stripper opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s Johnny." Garner broke out in 2011 with her role as Sarah in the Sundance hit Martha Marcy May Marlene and recently starred in The Perks of Being a Wallflower and David Chase's Not Fade Away.
