Charlize Theron In Talks For Seth MacFarlane's A Million Ways To Die In The West

Charlize Theron is probably better known for her work in dramas and the occasional thriller or action film, with Prometheus, Young Adult and Snow White and the Huntsman among her recent credits. But she has revealed her funnier side in past projects, including playing Rita Leeds in Arrested Development. And we may be seeing another demonstration of her sense of humor as she's reportedly in talks to star opposite Seth MacFarlane in A Million Ways to Die in the West.

Word that MacFarlane was co-writing, directing and starring in A Million Ways to Die in the West made the rounds late last year. it's described as a "Blazing Saddles-style comedy" and follows a sheepish farmer who chickens out of a gunfight and his girlfriend leaves him. He later encounters an outlaw's wife, who teaches him how to shoot. His plan is to get his girlfriend back, but it sounds like his mentor eventually catches his eye. The comedy/western mix certainly sounds inspired by Blazing Saddles, and MacFarlane appears to be just as actively involved in his film as Mel Brooks was in the 1974 comedy, which he co-wrote, directed and appeared in.

THR says Charlize Theron is in final negotiations to star opposite MacFarlane, though they don't specify if she's the wife or the girlfriend - I'm guessing it's the former, as that role sounds like it might be a more prominent. Either way, she'd be a great addition to the cast regardless of who she plays.

As an actor, MacFarlane's credits are predominantly for voicework. The Family Guy creator has a lot of experience in that area, including a voice-starring role in his last feature comedy Ted. With a starring role in his next movie, sounds like A Million Ways to Die will be a step up for him in his acting career, and what better way to do that than opposite an beautiful, talented Oscar winner?
