Insidious Chapter 2 has already been in production now for a couple weeks, but that doesn’t mean the film isn’t still adding to its talented cast. Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye and Ty Simpkins are all set to reprise their roles from the first movie, and now Danielle Bisutti has signed on to join them.
Variety, which broke the casting news, doesn’t mention what role the new actress will play in the film, but that isn’t a huge surprise given the fact that we don’t even know what the movie is about yet. Presumably it picks up after the events of the 2010 original, which followed two parents (Wilson, Byrne) who discover that their son has been possessed by a demon. Just like the original, the script was written by Leigh Whannell and James Wan will serve as director. It’s currently aiming to be in theaters on August 30th.
Whannell has recently been giving fans an inside-look into the production through his Twitter feed. Thus far he has revealed the creepy new house they’re filming in as well as a strange scene involving a child, candles, and hypnosis.
Bisutti has some prior feature experience, but has spent the bulk of her career on the small screen. She’s had recurring roles on shows like Parks and Recreation and CSI: Miami and has had a number of one-episode appearances on series like Castle, Criminal Minds, and Hot in Cleveland. She recently completed production on Michael Rosenbaum’s feature directorial debut Old Days.
