See The Curious Teaser For Sundance Hit The Kings Of Summer

After working in television helming episodes of Single Dads and sketches for Funny or Die Presents…, Jordan Vogt-Roberts makes his feature directorial debut with The Kings of Summer. This comedy made its world premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival, where it won rave reviews, many of which are flaunted in the teaser above, courtesy of the film's distributor CBS Films.

This teaser deliberately avoids detailing the movie's plot, and curiously avoids touting its most recognizable stars. Instead, it focuses on three nameless boys with an unmistakable chemistry goofing off in the woods. The rhythm they create is engaging. The build to the smallest's dance is weirdly satisfying. And the pull quotes from critics promise a movie that is hilarious and heartwarming, as well as reminiscent of Superbad and Stand by Me. What more could you want?

In case your answer is details, here we go.

The Kings of Summer centers on three adolescent boys set for a summer of fun out in the woods. Joe (Melissa & Joey's Nick Robinson), Patrick (The Big C's Gabriel Basso) and Biaggio (The Middle's Moises Arias) are close friends who decide build their own house out in the woods and live off the land all summer long. Co-starring in this buzzed about pic are comedy all-stars Alison Brie, Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and Mary Lynn Rajskub. We suspect we'll see more of these cast mates as the movie draws closer to its release.

The Kings of Summer opens in select cities on May 31st.
