Subscribe To Ben Stiller Is Still Walking On Air In Newest Secret Life Of Walter Mitty Poster Updates

A month ago, before Ben Stiller’s The Secret Life of Walter Mitty debuted its stunning first trailer and blew everyone’s mind, I was already looking forward to the film, but with a lot of reservations, as I expected Stiller to turn it into a broad, far-reaching comedy. What I didn’t expect, along with many others I’m sure, is a potentially melancholy take on a persistently stationary daydreamer. And the film’s latest poster, courtesy of the film’s Facebook page does as good a job as the last one at conveying that subtle, slightly askew take on the material.

I know this is a 20th Century Fox production, but that image immediately sends my brain to “Paramount," thanks to that iconic image of the mountain peak. There’s a feeling of déjà vu when looking at it, since the last poster was exactly the same, just switching out the mountain for the New York City skyline. You’d think the city would be big enough for Mitty to get lost in without having to resort to a fantasy land, but everybody is different. Compare and contrast the poster below.

I hope they come out with a couple more posters like this, maybe with Mitty walking over the moon, to coincide with the image from the trailer where he showed up as John Glenn on the cover of Life magazine. But I wouldn’t be picky. It’ll be weird if they just have these two as the only ones utilizing this “head in the clouds” concept.

Loosely adapted from James Thurber’s classic 1939 short story of the same name, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty will follow the imaginative Life magazine employee Walter Mitty whose mundane life becomes something exciting and memorable whenever he puts his mind to it. Amidst all of the fictional adventures is a real one, which Mitty gets into once an important photograph goes missing and his job is threatened. He finds a romantic interest in his co-worker Cheryl (Kristen Wiig), and she becomes a part of his trek, though it isn’t clear just yet if it’s all in his mind or not. If there’s a spinning top in this film that is used to differentiate dream life from real life, I’m going to be highly disappointed.

Also starring Adam Scott, Sean Penn, Shirley Maclaine and Patton Oswalt, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty will be air-walking into theaters on December 25. But first, it will premiere at the New York Film Festival on October 5. Relive the gorgeous trailer below.
