Watch Dr. Evil Show Up On SNL, Go Off On North Korea

The villain of villains, Dr. Evil stopped by Saturday Night Live last night to give a lesson on the true meaning of evil. In light of the recent hacking scandal between North Korea and Sony, the Austin Powers villain had some words of wisdom for his fellow evil organizations who are giving him and other villains a bad rep. Watch him go off on North Korea below:

After a long week of backlash due to Sony’s decision to pull The Interview from theaters, SNL took the opportunity to put their two cents into the mix courtesy of Mike Myers’ reprised role, Dr. Evil. "The Sam Smith/Dr. Evil Cold Open" shifted from a lonely, Christmas scene to an important interruption from the man with the creepy cat, Dr. Evil. Dr. Evil is upset and disgusted because North Korea and Sony are giving evil corporations a bad name. Dr. Evil’s segment was to take North Korea and Sony to school, and teach them how to really be evil. He has some hilarious jabs at the country and the corporation, and of course added in some of his famous air quoting. He starts with North Korea stating:

"You’re one of the most evil countries in the world and your act of war is to kill a movie? It’s easy to kill a movie. Just move it to January."

Dr. Evil also questions the hacking organizations name, Guardians of Peace. Because, GOP, come on guys. Myers adds, "way to go, a-holes. There’s already a GOP and they’re already an evil organization." There’s a nice little ‘one million dollars’ tribute, and a few good jabs at Sony as well, including:

"But why pick on Sony? They haven’t had a hit since the Walkman."

While the jokes were fun and a bit silly, I think they could have done a lot better. SNL has had some great skits in the past few weeks including "The Office: Middle Earth". And now you get Mike Myers to reprise Dr. Evil, and the best joke is about how to kill a movie. There could have been so much more. Take some jabs at the fact that Sony won’t even take responsibility for their actions, pushing blame for canceling the movie on the theaters who wouldn’t show it. Or comment on how even President Obama called Sony out on their idiocracy.

The Dr. Evil character is such a fantastic role, it would’ve been great to take it further, maybe even get Mini Me up on stage. It is funny though, that out of all villains to mock other villains it is a character who is parody of a villain himself. Complete with Mr. Bigglesworth, his sinister pinky finger laugh, and the gray tunic suit, Dr. Evil has awoken once again to advise the world on how NOT evil this entire hacking mess actually is.
