The Pitch Perfect Super Bowl Trailer Offers Surprise Football Cameos, Laughs

The Green Bay Packers didn't make it to the Super Bowl this year, but a few players from the team managed to show up... in an unusual place. Watch the Super Bowl teaser trailer for Pitch Perfect 2, featuring Clay Matthews and a bevy of other Packers players.

By the end of the night, it will either be the New England Patriots or the Seattle Seahawks who are crowned as the new reigning kings of the National Football League, but one has to give credits to Clay Matthews and the other Green Bay Packers players here who were willing to let their egos go for a few moments so that they could pick up the prize at an A Capella music singing competition. One can imagine that next season will feature at least a handful of snide comments from opponents at the scrimmage line, but it seems to be worth it.While the contest may not end in them wielding the Vince Lombardi Trophy above their heads, they do still seem pretty stoked about the victory:

Pitch Perfect 2 Green Bay Packers

But while the Green Bay Packers do steal a great deal of attention in this Pitch Perfect 2 Super Bowl spot, we’re also not going to go this entire article without mentioning the other special cameo featured in the footage. Sporting an interesting blue shirt, a douche-y gold chain, and a headset microphone, that’s David Cross as the announcer at the singing competition. Between this and the Mr. Show revival, he’s having a pretty good 2015 so far.

Pitch Perfect 2 David Cross

Of course, David Cross is far from the only great comedic talent featured in the ranks of Pitch Perfect 2. Kicking the trailer off and reprising her role as Fat Amy is Rebel Wilson, but also appearing in the film will be Anna Kendrick, Skylar Astin, Adam DeVine, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Alexis Knapp, Ester Dean, Hana Mae Lee, Hailee Steinfeld, John Michael Higgins, Katey Sagal and Elizabeth Banks (who is also helming the movie as her directorial debut). The story will see the return of the Barden Bellas as they compete in a special international competition that an American team has never won – but surely there will be many shenanigans and ridiculous scenarios as well along the way.

Pitch Perfect 2 will be in theaters May 15th, and head over here to watch more Super Bowl trailers.
