Olivia Wilde Has The Perfect Response To Tron 3 Getting Cancelled

Most actors would be upset if one of their big upcoming blockbusters were to be abruptly cancelled, but most actors aren't Olivia Wilde. How do we know this? Because her response to Tron 3 is rather perfect.

Since it was announced late last month that Disney was cancelling their plans for Tron 3, Olivia Wilde has surely been inundated with questions about it on Twitter - so this week she finally responded. Deciding to simply look on the bright side of things, she offers that not making the sci-fi blockbuster means that she won't have to put herself through any kind of the physical torture necessary to accomplish the job. And just in case you forgot what that unforgiving "rubber suit" looked like, you can take a gander at it below:

Olivia Wilde Tron Legacy

Can you really blame her for not wanting to squeeze into that suit for weeks and weeks? Surely Olivia Wilde was game to make some sacrifices for her art (she did sign on for the movie after all), but that doesn't mean that she can't embrace some of the positives that come with Tron 3 being cancelled.

Had the Joseph Kosinski-directed sequel moved forward, it would have offered a very interesting opportunity for Olivia Wilde performance-wise - namely because her existence would have squarely been at the center of the plot. While she was born a program, the ending of Tron Legacy sees her travel with Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund) into the real world. It was confirmed a few weeks ago by the actress that the movie's story was going to further explore this very special situation and the consequences that stemmed from it.

According to reports, Tron 3 was going to be titled Tron Ascension, and there were plans in place to start production on the movie this October up in Vancouver, Canada. At the time, these developments did make a degree of sense, given that the previous movie made more than $400 million at the global box office back in 2010. Sadly, the folk at the Walt Disney Company wound up not being confident enough in the franchise to move forward with the story.

Are you like Olivia Wilde and can see the positive sides of Tron 3 being cancelled? Or do you still hoping against hope that the folks at Disney will change their minds and start the project up again? If you're in the latter category, there's a petition that you may want to sign.
