Movies get a lot of flack for their dependence on adaptation for their ideas. It seems that quite often, if your idea wasn’t a novel, a comic book, or a TV show first, you can’t even get a movie made anymore. However, there’s a place that seems just as dependent on Hollywood’s original ideas for their own productions.

In news that is far from fetch, the potential co-writer and director of Mean Moms, Sean Anders, has admitted that the Mean Girls spin-off is currently in a "holding pattern."

No matter your age, there’s always one high school movie that sticks out as a pivotal moment in movie viewing pleasure. High school movies reach cult status for various reasons, but beyond coming-of-age story that they tell, they can relate to multiple facets of one’s life, or can act as a nostalgic picture that reminds us just how much you grow up after those four defining years.

A reunion has been dangled for a while now, possibly getting Lindsay Lohan, Rachel McAdams, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert and the rest of the cast together. Even Lohan, while on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon recently, revealed that she’d been hearing plans for a gathering.

Three hysterical things happen during the talent show in Mean Girls. The first is a brilliant, overly emotional rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” by Damian. The second is, of course, the “Jingle Bell Rock” fiasco when the music starts skipping during the Plastics’ performance, and the third is Kevin G’s sexually explicit original rap that gets cut off early.

Clearly inspired by Mean Girls, these bracelets and barrettes are totally fetch, even if they play a bit fast and loose with who'd wear what. For instance, the hair clip ($55) that reads "full of secrets" is called "Karen"--even though that sly comment was made by Damian about Gretchen Weiner.

As we welcome 2014 with hope in our hearts and a twinkle in the eye, it behooves us to look to our past and discover how we came to this place. I need more Mean Girls in my life. If you have taste, you probably feel the same way. The fetch 2004 comedy is endlessly quotable and surprisingly thoughtful. It’s also filled with an army of supporting characters with strange, unexplained backstories that cry out for more information.

Funny enough, this mash-up isn’t all that far-fetched as a Mean Girls musical could very well become a thing. Earlier this year when 30 Rock wrapped, Mean Girls screenwriter Tina Fey was pressed for what she had coming next, and she admitted a musical version of the adored frenemies comedy was something being considered.

Reddit has given the world some silly games and ideas, but this might be the silliest one that we've completely loved. Over at this thread, which was picked up and Buzzfeed-ified here, user sixdoublefive321 starts the conversation: "If you watch the movie Jaws backwards, it's a movie about a shark that keeps throwing up people until they have to open a beach."

As 30 Rock draws to a close, fans of consummate comedienne Tina Fey have been having a tough time. Working on our night cheese, lizzing over episodes old and new, and bitterly bellowing "blergh!" as the end approaches, we are nearly inconsolable. But last night at the SAG Awards Fey gave us new cause to rejoice: Mean Girls: The Musical.
