ReelBlend #75: Talking Midsommar And Hereditary With Ari Aster

Midsommar

Powered by RedCircle

The guys are all together in the same room this week, and that probably means that they are in London… but not this time! In fact, the ReelBlend hosts are on the other side of the globe, in Los Angeles, for a very special interview.

More on that in a second.

The guys are recording this week’s episode in Los Angeles after having sat down with Midsommar director Ari Aster. And they held this conversation until the week after the horror film’s release, because it’s exactly the type of feature that needs a deeper-dive discussion. And who better to analyze the nuts-and-bolts of this complicated story than the writer/director, Aster himself.

The conversation covers a lot of ground with Aster’s previously film, the breakout hit Hereditary, as he essentially worked on Midsommar and that movie back to back. Hearing how one influenced the other, and vice versa, made for a fascinating conversation, so press play on this week’s episode and dig in.

Beyond the Ari Aster conversation, the ReelBlend hosts covered the new trailer for Rian Johnson’s star-studded whodunit, Knives Out. Have you seen it yet? Watch it now:

But let’s get to the reason why the boys are in L.A. this week. As they revealed on social media, Kevin, Sean and Jake will be sitting down with Quentin Tarantino – yes, QUENTIN TARANTINO – to discuss at length his new movie, Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. They’ve seen the film. They are getting an extended sit down with Tarantino.

And as you might be able to imagine, the boys are freaking out. More than normal, anyway.

The Tarantino will run on the show the week of July 25. Ari Aster is this week. Next week? The legendary and fabled Kevin Feige interview, which is a brilliant run down of the current state of the MCU.
