On Saturday, the formerly mustachioed host of the syndicated game show Jeopardy!, Alex Trebek, was admitted to Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where it was determined he had suffered a heart attack. In the days that followed, Trebek spent some time recovering in the hospital, but overall, it was reported he was in good health and in good spirits. The host will need some time to recover, but he’s up an and about enough now to assure fans he is fine and will be returning to Jeopardy! in the coming weeks.
On Wednesday, Trebek put together a little message to thank fans for their concern and consideration during the period after his heart attack. In the message, posted up on the Jeopardy! site, the 71-year-old says the prayers have been appreciated and he is happy to announce he has returned home at this juncture, which means he is taking big steps to recovery.
In the message, Trebek also makes certain to reassure fans he will be back in the studio in just a few weeks to start work on his 29th season (which is set to air in September) of the show. While Joepardy! does seem to be a huge part of Trebek’s life, the man has already been serving as the host on the hit game show for the past 28 years and it seemed like having a heart attack might have been the catalyst he needed to get himself to retire. Nonetheless, it is good to know he still loves it and will soon be back at his podium, poking fun at contestants and spitting out random facts.
