Pippa Middleton Was Startled By The Fame Her Bottom Brought Her

It must be pretty weird to be a member of the Middleton clan, plucked from relative obscurity straight into the spotlight thanks to the 2011 wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton (aka the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge). During the wedding, Kate’s sister, Pippa, became known for a camera shot of her bottom, catapulting her to insta-celebrity status. The 29–year-old now marvels the incident was nothing short of “startling.”

“It is a bit startling to achieve global recognition before the age of 30 on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom.”

In the time since her name became known to the public, Middleton has remained a very busy lady. Her newest project, Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Family and Friends, a book about planning different types of events and functions, will hit the market on October 30. It may be odd to be known for your rear, but Middleton recently told The Daily Mail, there are some plus sides to finding fame, as well.

“I certainly have opportunities many can only dream of – but in most ways I’m a typical girl in her 20s trying to forge a career and represent herself in what can sometimes seem rather strange circumstances. I am by nature an optimist so I tend to concentrate on the advantages.”

Her optimistic nature should certainly serve the girl, but beyond giving her an opportunity to succeed on her own terms and in a field beyond secondhand fame, Middleton says she was just happy to be able to “paint a picture” of herself for the first time. She may not have the title her sister has claimed, but it seems like she is doing quite well on her own terms.
