Kevin Clash: Do You Buy The Allegations Against The Elmo Puppeteer?

Last week, Elmo puppeteer Kevin Clash was accused of having sex with a sixteen-year-old boy. After meeting with attorneys and taking a leave of absence, a settlement was reached, and the accuser released a statement admitting the relationship was consensual and actually began after he was eighteen.

The proceedings should have paved the way for Clash to return to Sesame Street, but unfortunately, this week brought an entirely new allegation. A second man came forward yesterday claiming the actor bedded him when he was just fifteen. A five million dollar lawsuit has been filed in federal court, and this morning, Clash officially resigned from his position on the beloved children’s show.

Given two different men have come forward, it’s tempting to assume Clash is guilty of the charges levied against him, but there are reasons to think he might actually be innocent. The first accuser released a statement saying the sex was consensual and didn’t begin until he was of age, and neither of the alleged victims went to the police over what supposedly happened.

What do you think? Do you buy these accusations against the puppeteer, or do you think they’re nothing more than unfair cash grabs by men he used to date? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the poll below…
