Today Host Savannah Guthrie Is Engaged

Savannah Guthrie has had a good twelve months. Amidst controversy, she nabbed the Today Show slot formerly allotted to Anne Curry. Less than twelve months later, the 41-year-old news reporter has announced she is engaged. For on-air personalities, there’s really no better way to come out with big news like a marriage than on television, and that’s exactly what Guthrie did on Monday.

During Monday’s airing of Today, the host stated she got engaged over the weekend to her boyfriend of four years, Michael Feldman, who is well-known in the political sphere for being Al Gore’s aide. The two were vacationing in Turks and Caicos when Feldman dropped down on one knee to pop the big question and, at first, Guthrie had no idea what was going on. Humorously, Guthrie says she dropped hints all of Monday morning, but no one, Matt Lauer included, noticed the giant rock on her finger.

I also love Al Roker teasing Guthrie about having a Today wedding. It’s a joke, but Guthrie’s shocked and horrified face is priceless. It looks like there won’t be any Nene Leakes-esque wedding special in the couple’s future.

Guthrie’s marriage to Michael Feldman will be her second. Formerly, the Today co-host was married BBC News’ Mark Orchard, from 2004 to 2009. Hopefully, this time around, the marriage will be a beautiful and long-lasting affair. We wish the happy couple the very best as they move forward and plan their big nuptials.
