Resilient Bret Michaels Fine After Serious Tour Bus Accident

Bret Michaels might not be the most physically imposing man in the world, but he’s damn near impossible to keep down. In just the past few years, he’s battled diabetes. He’s been blindsided by falling set pieces. He’s been hospitalized for having a stroke and hospitalized again for appendicitis. At one point, he was even fired from All-Stars Celebrity Apprentice for the stupidest reason ever, but like a hair metal god, he just keeps rising from the ashes without any noticeable aftereffects, which is why it should surprise no one that he was involved in a serious tour bus accident earlier this week and lived to talk about it.

According to Celeb Buzz, the accident in question occurred this morning somewhere between Texas and Mississippi. The Poison frontman was inside his tour bus with a driver and a security guard when the vehicle ran into several deer. That’s right. The driver didn’t hit one deer. He plowed over an entire family of deer, wrecking the bus but only leaving the inhabitants with some bumps, bruises and annoyances.

Here’s what Michaels had to say about the crash…

"Except for some bumps and bruises I am thankful there were no serious injuries. It is unfortunate for the deer, but thankfully due to modern RV technology and a steel firewall we are all okay. I have every intention to make tonight's show in Biloxi and the tour will continue."

I can’t decide whether all of these fiascos and potential tragedies are, from Michaels’ end, more frustrating because he keeps getting delayed by medical issues or more reassuring because he just bounces back every single time. He’s like his generation’s version of Keith Richards, and it’s hard to imagine what could possibly keep him from hanging out with hot chicks and hitting high notes, much to the delight of his millions of fans around the world.

Ordinarily when people get injured, I try not to laugh at their pain. I sincerely do my best to avoid rubbing salt into the wound and using their misery to improve my own mood. Since Michaels is apparently a vampire, however, and nothing short of a stake through the heart can possibly hurt him, I think there’s no harm in having at least one or two giggles about the most ridiculous injury the rocker has ever suffered. So, without further ado, here is the goofy footage of him getting blindsided by a piece of the stage….
