Leah Remini Admits She's Lost Lots Of Friends Since Leaving Scientology

The line between truth and exaggeration is always fuzzy in Hollywood because generating publicity is such an important part of fame for many actors and actresses. As such, viewers have to decide who should be taken at their word and who should not be when they’re discussing supposed real life incidents. For example: where does the truth sit when it comes to Leah Remini and the Church of Scientology? Personally, I find her very credible, and because of it, I think the following story is pretty horrifying.

During an appearance on Ellen yesterday, the former King Of Queens actress revealed it’s been extremely difficult in some ways since she made the decision to leave the Church she grew up in, but even so, she had to do what she had to do. Here’s a portion of her exact quote, as per The New York Daily News…

"We lost friends who can no longer talk to us who are still in the organization."

It’s long been rumored that Scientologists are heavily discouraged from interacting socially with former members or those deemed to be anti-Scientology. That’s not an official policy that’s been made public, but if Remini is to be believed, she certainly makes it seem like it’s out of her former friends’ control, as to whether or not they must shun her. If so, that’s weird and cultish and just as much a reason to leave the Church, as all of the other wild rumors.

Regardless, Remini will need to start putting her Church-related feelings aside, as she competes on the newest season of Dancing With The Stars. She might not be as classically trained or young as some of the other dancers, but luckily for her, she’s extremely likable and fan voting is a significant percentage of who stays.
