OOPS: Denver News Station Shows NSFW Penis Picture On Air

At any given moment, someone on a local news broadcast somewhere in the world is messing up in comical fashion. With daily timeslots to fill, budgets that aren’t exactly huge and employees who aren’t always the most experienced, it’s just a numbers game. That being said, some screw-ups are a little bigger than others, a sad fact a station in Denver found out over the weekend when it broadcast a picture of a penis while discussing a helicopter crash.

If nothing else, the fiasco, shown in the above video, should serve as a great reminder to local news producers about why you can’t just go through random pictures on Twitter while on the air, even if you’ve picked a specific keyword. In this case, the producers were searching “KOMO”, because that’s the news organization whose helicopter crashed, but obviously, instead of thoughtful pictures, viewers ended up seeing a dick shot and these hilarious reaction faces...

Here’s a look at the underwhelming apology the station delivered following the broadcast…

While reporting breaking news about the crash of the KOMO-TV helicopter in Seattle, FOX31 Denver accidentally broadcast an offensive photo while scrolling live through a Twitter feed of pictures from the crash scene. The photo was mistakenly broadcast by our control room. It did not come from the tablet many viewers saw being used by one of our anchors. We apologize for the inadvertent broadcast of the image and we are taking immediate steps to prevent such an accident from happening again.
