The 8-year-old girl was said to be in an off-road vehicle this past weekend, when it flipped over and sent her into the water. The situation has been described as "extremely serious" and it doesn't sound like she's out of the woods yet.
The update on the situation comes from TMZ, who's reporting that sources say Maddie Aldridge is in "critical but stable condition."
That's the latest on her condition so far, from what we've seen. Now for what was previously reported, some of which may not actually be entirely accurate.
According to TMZ's earlier report, young Maddie was on an ATV when it flipped over and sent her into the water. The site's sources says she was under water for several minutes and unconscious when she was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Their sources also say that Jamie Lynn was not with Maddie when this accident happened, and that Maddie was apparently on a hunting expedition at the time.
After that information circulated, Us Weekly posted an update citing a Spears family rep who released the following statement.
The details the media are reporting surrounding the incident regarding Jamie Lynn's daughter Maddie are incorrect. Right now the Spears family asks that everyone respect their privacy during this time and appreciates all the prayers and support for their family.
It's unclear exactly which of the reported details related to the event are inaccurate. Possibly most of them, though the rep doesn't elaborate. Hunting does seem like a pastime that Maddie Aldridge and her mother might have participated in in the past. Among the photos on Jamie Lynn Spears' Instagram feed is this one from November 2016, captioned "Somewhere in a duck blind."
So, we don't know for sure what exactly happened at this point, but from the statement, it does sound like the Spears family is going through something very serious, potentially involving young Maddie.
TMZ's most recent report is the one that states she's in stable condition, and hopefully at least that much is true, but there's no word on whether or not the child has regained consciousness. Let's hope we'll hear some positive word on the situation soon.
