How Mark Hamill Responded To His Rumored Death

Mark Hamill wants you to know that he's alive and well following a recent death hoax, but he has a funny way of showing that. This morning on Twitter, the Star Wars legend assured everyone that despite the rumors swirling on the Internet about his untimely death, he isn't, in fact, dead. But in the process, Hamill might've scared some unsuspecting fans upon first gaze. Check out the tweet below to see how Hamill responded to these falsified death claims.

The cheeky post is deceptive at first glance, drawing the eye to the bold red "1951-2018" listing in the center of a black and white picture, which seemingly certifies the recent speculation about his shocking passing. But just before fans found themselves overcome with mournful feelings, the smaller, underlying white-lettered "Alive and Well" stamp lets us know that this is all just one big joke, and Mark Hamill's only having fun. Hamill has a bit of a morbid sense of humor, it appears. But at least the 66-year-old actor knows how to keep things light-hearted, even at the most unexpected of times.

While Mark Hamill doesn't believe these rumors deserve any serious consideration, concerning fans had some reasons to believe in their potential validity. It was only a little over a year ago when his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher left this world shortly after turning 60. Over the past few months, particularly with the recent release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which served as one of Fisher's final performances, Hamill has expressed his love, gratification and heartfelt feelings towards his recently-deceased friend, including more than a few different tributes on different occasions. It's comforting to know, however, that had Fisher been in the same circumstances as Hamill today, she likely would've handled it about the same with her signature clever wit.

It was also concerning to fans for another reason... You likely know it by now, but if you haven't yet seen Star Wars: The Last Jedi, please note that there will be spoilers from here on. The death hoax may have also reminded fans that Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker was killed in the newest Star Wars movie released this past December, which would make the timing exceptionally unfortunate if it were true. It's worth noting, though, that Hamill also vaguely teased a potential return for the character only a couple days earlier.

Thankfully, however, Hamill is alive and well, and so is his crackling wit and sense of humor. He's also, thankfully, keeping himself busy. In addition to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Hamill was also recently seen in the massively overlooked Brigsby Bear (Side Note: Brigsby Bear was this writer's favorite movie of 2017) and heard in a variety of assorted animated works, including Trollhunters, Justice League Action, Avengers Assemble and more. He is also set to appear in the upcoming drama Con Man, which is slated for release later this year. He also recently lent his voice to Transformers: Power of the Primes and the video game Squadron 42.
