Anna Faris Says She Needs To Figure Out The Purpose Of Marriage

Anna Faris in Mom

Anna Faris is known to dish out relationship advice on her hit podcast Unqualified, but she is currently trying to figure some things out on her own right now. The comedic actress admitted in a recent podcast appearance that she's still trying to navigate through her relationship life since her separation from her husband, Chris Pratt. Additionally, the actress/author needs to rediscover the purpose of marriage if she's gonna jump back into it anytime soon.

During her recent apperance on Dax Shepard's podcast Armchair Expert, Anna Faris told the fellow comedy actor/podcast host that she needs to figure out not only what she needs, but what her children need. As a mother and a working actress, Anna Faris needs to take a breathe and discover what's best for her romantic life before she jumps into anything serious -- like another marriage, for instance. Here's what Faris confessed to Shepard.

I need to figure out what the purpose is. Is it safety for your children? Is it convention? Is it so other people respect your relationship more? For me, I'm just not quite sure where it fits, especially when it feels so easy to get married, and then the untangling --- when the state gets involved.

Later in the conversation, Anna Faris addressed the very public nature of her marriage with Chris Pratt. While Chris Pratt wasn't necessarily "Chris Pratt" when the Mom star married the Parks and Recreation alum, being in such a high-profile celebrity relationship with the Guardians of the Galaxy actor ultimately took an exhausting toll on her. It was trying for the long-term couple, particularly when they decided to call it quits earlier last year. While people couldn't get enough of their love, Anna Faris didn't know how to deal with the public's vocal response to their heartbreaking separation.

Chris and I did talk about...we got, like on the Twitter feed, 'Love is dead' and 'Relationship goal.' We obviously cultivated something and it was rewarding for a while. It was like 'People seem to think we got all this shit all right.' I had a little bit of a childish feeling of 'Oh come on, fucking grow up' -- a little anger.

There were also rumors that Chris Pratt was sleeping with his Passengers co-star Jennifer Lawrence. Some people believed the high profile affair was the source of Pratt's divorce to Anna Faris, But Jennifer Lawrence shut down those rumors on a different podcast, WTF with Marc Maron, last month when she was promoting her new movie Red Sparrow. As Lawrence admitted on the comedy podcast, that was one of the craziest rumors she heard.

Aside from her relationship woes, Anna Faris will soon be seen in the upcoming Overboard remake, which hits theaters on May 4th. She is also the star of CBS's hit sitcom Mom; the fifth season premieres tomorrow night. Faris was also recently heard in last summer's The Emoji Movie, and she recently published her first memoir, Unqualified, which hit bookshelves back in October. It's based on her podcast of the same name, which premiered in 2015.
