Will Ferrell Makes An Appearance As Ron Burgundy Prior To Car Crash

Will Ferrell Anchorman

Last week, Will Ferrell scared his fans when he was involved in a two-car accident late Thursday night. Thankfully, the comedic actor is recovering at the moment, as his injuries were reportedly minor. During this concerning ordeal, however, another brief bit of news came out. As it was reported, Ferrell reprised his legendary character Ron Burgundy just before the car crash. Ferrell was coming home from an event reprising the popular character when the accident happened.

Initially, we learned that Will Ferrell was reprising his signature Anchorman role for a Funny or Die event, and the Los Angeles Times added more details, claiming that the comedian was attending a get-out-and-vote event in Oceanside High School in, naturally, San Diego, according to the authorities. Ferrell was there with TV host Billy Eichner, and it was their first stop in their "Glam Up the Midterms" campaign. The campaign is an ongoing effort that was set up to encourage young people to register and vote in the forthcoming midterm elections on November 6th.

When the accident occurred last week, Will Ferrell was one of four people in a 2017 Lincoln that was flipped over when it collided with a 2007 Toyota Highlander. Ferrell was rushed to the hospital with minor injuries, along with the driver and another gentleman riding in the Lincoln. The Toyota driver reportedly received no injuries during the car accident. The former SNL actor was considered in moderately stable condition after the accident, with a paparazzi photo showing Ferrell on the phone as he was on a stretcher being pushed into an ambulance. Will Ferrell was released from the hospital on Friday morning. A female passenger, however, reportedly suffered major injuries, and it's unclear what her condition is at this time. Witnesses on the scene say she was bleeding profusely at the scene of the accident. Additional details are still forthcoming. We'll keep you posted in regards to further developments here at CinemaBlend.

It is not confirmed what caused the car collision, though there were beer bottles found on the road when the SUV was pulled upright. A California Highway Patrol officer reports neither drugs nor alcohol played a part in the accident that occurred last week, and the cause of the accident is unclear.

This is not the only time Will Ferrell has recently returned to playing Ron Burgundy. He also brought the character back to announce soccer last month.

Will Ferrell was last seen in The House and Daddy's Home Two last year. Ferrell also recently returned to Saturday Night Live for a hosting gig. Next, he'll be seen in Holmes and Watson, a humorous new take on the classic Arthur Conan Doyle character, which reunites Ferrell with his Talladega Nights and Step Brothers co-star John C. Reilly. It is also written-directed by Ferrell's Get Hard director, Etan Cohen. We wish him a safe, speedy recovery.
