Orlando Bloom Admits To Massive Crush On Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett Orlando Bloom The Lord of the Rings

We've all had celebrity crushes before. Whether you want to admit yours or not, everyone has harbored feelings for someone they've seen at the movies, on television or elsewhere. But usually, we don't hear about celebrity crushes of actual celebrities. Sure, we've read tabloid stories about famous folks dating each other, but how often do you hear about celebs crushing on other A-listers? Orlando Bloom recently revealed he's had a crush on Cate Blanchett. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor wasn't shy about confessing his mushy feelings right next to the Ocean's 8 starlet herself. Here's what the actor said during a recent appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden, when Orlando Bloom was seated right next to the lovely Cate Blanchett herself on the talk show host's couch.

I can't think -- I had such a crush. I had the biggest crush on you. And I was just walking around spying on her from the corner of the room -- in a non creepy way.

As James Corden reminds us in the talk show clip, Orlando Bloom and Cate Blanchett are no strangers to one another. They've previously worked together on The Lord of the Rings trilogy, where Blanchett played Galadriel and Bloom played Legolas, respectively. They both appeared in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies as well. So, these actors have a history together.

Yet, Cate Blanchett claims she wasn't aware of Orlando Bloom's feelings towards her during the production of those three films. True, their characters shared affections for one another, but Blanchett didn't know that Bloom's feelings towards her were, ahem, a little more method. Luckily, Cate Blanchett doesn't appear to be creeped out by Bloom's admission. In fact, she seems to be charmed by it. But it's always hard to tell during talk show appearances what's really going on. Is it the start of a beautiful relationship, or is Orlando Bloom kicking himself right now? Only time will (hopefully) tell.

In the meantime, however, feel free to watch the clip below. Thankfully, it's not awkward.

Meanwhile, Orlando Bloom was previously dating Katy Perry, although they ended their relationship last year. However, there were rumors earlier this year that the actor and the pop singer/American Idol judge were getting back together, although it hasn't been confirmed. Cate Blanchett has been married to playwright Andrew Upton since 1997, around the time she was filming the initial Lord of the Rings trilogy. So, it's rather doubtful that she'll be in any romantic relationship with Orlando Bloom anytime soon. But hey, if something happens between these two A-list actors, we'll definitely keep you posted here at CinemaBlend.
