John Legend Just Hit EGOT Status And Made Pancakes To Celebrate

It's official: John Legend is an EGOT. The coveted quadruple award achievement is a distinction only shared by an elite few -- where an artist/performer wins an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar, and a Tony, all within their lifetime -- and Legend finally earned his Emmy last night as he was recognized for his achievements in producing NBC's live rendition of Jesus Christ Superstar, alongside Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber. Now that John Legend has completed the square and collected all the achievements, what's next for the artist? Well, how about breakfast? Upon winning his first Emmy, the singer's wife Chrissy Teigen posted a video of Legend chowing down on a stack of pancakes to celebrate his latest monumental career achievement.

The Twitter video, which was recorded by Chrissy Teigen (who admits that she lost her voice sometime recently,) finds the well-distinguished musician in a humble state, making his family some celebratory pancakes to start John Legend's first full day as an EGOT. It's going to be a good day, we think. Breakfast is considered the most important meal of the day, after all, and it's always good to get some grub in you as you find yourself in the midst of four of the biggest awards achievements you can hold to your name. Truly, it's a rare honor to hold, but John Legend is certainly keeping thing casual.

In addition to John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice are also officially EGOTs as of last night, making it a big night for that distinction. And John Legend has the chance to become an EGOT again, as he was nominated for Outstanding Actor In A Limited Series Or Movie thanks to this latest production of the beloved musical. Whether or not he wins another Emmy will be determined next week when the primetime awards are dished out.

John Legend holds 10 Grammy awards to his name. He also won the Oscar for Best Original Song in 2015 alongside Common for their work on "Glory," which was featured prominently in Selma. Last year, Legend won his first-ever Tony award for his role as a co-producer in Jitney. Now that John Legend is officially an Emmy winner, the sky is the limit for the artist. It's clear that he is very, very well-accomplished in all different mediums of art, and he continues to showcase his depth and talents in a wide range of projects. For the time being, his focus is on making breakfast.
