Kylie Jenner Explains How She Really Is Self-Made

Kylie Jenner - Keeping Up With the Kardashians

Despite what the Internet says, Kylie Jenner believes she is, in fact, a self-made woman. The young billionaire entrepreneur has grown up in a life of privilege, no doubt. She was raised in a household of wealth and notoriety -- the likes of which few people will ever truly know. But she doesn't consider those factors to be hindrances on the notion that she's a woman who made her own fame. As she explained in an interview, she made her own money, and while she had a "platform," none of the money that's currently in her name was "inherited" to her. Instead, she made it through her own hard-work and forthright attitude, she claims. Jenner said:

My parents told me I needed to make my own money, it's time to learn how to save and spend your own money, stuff like that. What I'm trying to say is I did have a platform, but none of my money is inherited.

These comments were collected from Kylie Jenner's recent profile with Paper Magazine. There are a lot of things going on in Jenner's life right now, to say the least, and this publicized conversation tried to touch on a lot of those points-of-interests. But one of the most telling moments of the interview was when she was asked about the Internet's dismissive thoughts on Jenner being perceived as a "self-made" millionaire-turned-billionaire, which garnered a wealth of controversy.

Kylie Jenner doesn't contest that she's been given a great benefit from her famous and well-known parents, but she believes that every dollar she owns in this life is made from her own work and efforts. Jenner doesn't consider any money she has as "inherited," and while she has been gifted a tremendous deal of opportunities through her family lineage, she says her parents imposed strong morals to uphold.

In that sense, Kylie Jenner believes what she really inherited from her famous, wealthy parents was a strong work ethic, and a need to prove herself and make the most of her time and career during an early age. They provided a foundation -- or, as she calls it, a "platform" -- for her to excel, but she claims that everything that came after that was her own efforts. And she believes that qualifies as "self-made."

While Kylie Jenner continues to have her vocal critics, particularly when it comes to her enormous wealth, high platform and privileged lifestyle, the young celebrity wanted to take this opportunity to clarify her earlier comments and try to prove her case for why, in her opinion, she's a self-made woman. Will it work? It's hard to say. Everyone is entitled to their thoughts, and it'll be an uphill battle for Jenner to prove to the masses that she is what she says she is. But Kylie Jenner said her piece.
