Mick Jagger 'Devastated' To Cancel Rolling Stones Tour For Medical Treatment

Mick Jagger - CBS News

This weekend, it brought Mick Jagger no satisfaction to announce that The Rolling Stones' upcoming 2019 tour has been postponed indefinitely. The rock 'n' roll legends were eager to get in front of audiences in both the United States and Canada to provide a few extraordinary live shows, but such rockin' and rollin' will need to wait until Jagger has regained his health. He is currently seeking medical treatment, and his doctors advised him not to travel on tour at this time. Until his recovery is complete, this Rolling Stone will need to remain stationary. They say you can't always get what you want. But Mick Jagger knows what he needs right now. Unfortunately, that'll involve staying put until his doctors allow him to travel again.

Here's the official statement provided by The Rolling Stones on their social media:

Unfortunately today the Rolling Stones have had to announce the postponement of their upcoming US/Canada tour dates - we apologise for any inconvenience this causes those who have tickets to shows but wish to reassure fans to hold onto these existing tickets, as they will be valid for the rescheduled dates, which will be announced shortly. Mick has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.

The disappointing announcement came from The Rolling Stones' Twitter account. The world-famous rock band wanted to make it clear that they are fully intending to reschedule the tour at some point down the road. Unfortunately, the upcoming tour won't be when the musicians' originally scheduled it. The 2019 tour was set to start on April 20th, fitting enough, in Miami. That's ultimately too soon for Mick Jagger.

Additionally, Mick Jagger released a personalized statement about the suspended tour on his own Twitter account. It should be noted that it's not clear at this time what Jagger's medical emergency is, though it is comforting for fans to know that he is expected to make a full recovery at some point in the near future.

The tour date destinations included Miami, FL; Jacksonville, FL; Houston, TX; Los Angeles, CA; Glendale, AZ; Pasadena, CA; Santa Clara, CA; Seattle, WA; Denver, CO; Washington DC; Philadelphia, PA; Foxborough, MA; Rutherford, NJ; Chicago, IL; and the Burl's Creek Event Grounds in Canada. Each previous tour date is expected to be rescheduled. More details should become available at some point in the future.

According to a music industry source who spoke with Page Six, Mick Jagger found some trouble when doctors gave the rocker a pre-tour check-up. They reportedly "found something" that ultimately needed "immediate attention," and it was worrisome enough that Jagger needed treatment in a hospital located in the United States. The source insists that it's not a "serious thing," but it was ultimately serious enough that Jagger needed to hold off on touring for a short while. The No Filter tour will happen somewhere down the line. Just not as soon as they anticipated.
