Waiting on an airplane tarmac is frustrating. Waiting an extra period of time on a runway tarmac because a celebrity has been kicked off a plane is infuriating. Unfortunately, the latter is exactly what happened to a group of American Airlines passengers today. The culprit was the sometimes hot-headed celebrity Alex Baldwin.

The incident occurred today at Los Angeles International Airport. According to the LA Times, although neither American Airlines or representatives for Baldwin are commenting, it seems Baldwin was kicked off after refusing to turn off his cell phone. According to his Twitter, the popular app Words With Friends was what did the celebrity in.
"Flight attendant on American reamed me out 4 playing WORDS W FRIENDS while we sat at the gate, not moving. #nowonderamericaairisbankrupt.”

The plane ended up taking off an hour after the Baldwin incident. There’s a lot of things that are really unappealing about being on a plane. You are in close proximity to a ton of people, you have to listen to the same emergency spiel every time you step on, and you have to deal with a bunch of small rules, including some that seem a little silly. I even get that Words for Friends can suck a person in sometimes, but that is exactly why people should not indulge in such pleasures right before a plane is going to take off. There’s nothing fun about being on a plane, but when you are on a plane, everyone is in the same boat. Being famous really doesn’t make you exempt from the rules. If you want to change that, take a private plane. I just hope the other passengers made their layovers.
