Amy Winehouse has been called a lot of things since her untimely death a week or so ago, but a potential mother? Well, that one is new to me. Apparently the ‘tortured artist’ dreamed of becoming a parent, which is one of the scariest things I’ve ever heard. If she wanted to get plastered on hard alcohol and tylenol every night, more power to her, but there is no way in hell a child belonged in her miserable life. That’s what makes me think this wasn’t ever going to happen anyway.

According to TMZ, Winehouse was “interested” in a girl named Dannika Augustine from the island of St. Lucia. The girl told The Sunday Mirror,
"Amy was already my mother. I would call her mum and she would call me her daughter. She took care of me and we had fun together. I loved her and she loved me ... She was the most amazing person and I was looking forward to living with her here or in London. I cannot believe she is gone. This is the worst thing that ever happened to me."
The girl’s grandmother sounded confident that Winehouse would come back to finalize the adoption process, but this all sounds like the broken fantasy of a broken woman. Winehouse wasn’t coming back, not for this kid, or any other kid; and even if she did, there’s no way in hell she could care for this girl -- she couldn’t even care for herself. I feel bad for the girl and her family who have been jimmy-jacked around by this woman for however many months, but so goes a life touched by Winehouse.
