From what I gather, Hollywood is a lot like high school. Celebrities working in different fields will hang out and socialize with each other, but more often than not, it’s people on the same general level. For example, Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels has been friends with beloved singer Paul Simon for years. They’re up to their own pursuits, but it makes sense why they might befriend each other. Generally, there’s a method to the mayhem, but now and again, something comes out of left field that you never see coming.

Earlier this year, former Bachelorette runner-up and current Bachelor Ben Flajnik went out on a date with Jennifer Love Hewitt. Knowing the winemaker asked the actress to dinner is a bit odd, but what apparently happened is even more strange. According to People, he was the one that wasn’t down with her. The two shared a meal at his family’s winery, but by the time it was over, he didn’t have any interest in a second rendezvous. Apparently, “ending up with a Hollywood celebrity is not something” he wanted.

I can buy someone preferring to live a quiet life away from the spotlight, especially if that person had a job like being a winemaker, but considering that same someone is about to try to find love on national television, the reasoning kind of breaks down. How are women who would appear on The Bachelor better wife material than celebrities? Why would Ben Flajnik not want to give Jennifer Love Hewitt a second date? I don’t get it. She’s incredibly hot, and she seems like a really sweet woman.

What do you think? Is Ben Flajnik crazy for turning down Jennifer Love Hewitt? Sound off by voting in the poll below…
