Britney Spears has had a big year. Her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale went live on March 25th. The album featured multiple singles and a pretty incredible referency video for dance track “I Wanna Go.” Back in June rumors abounded Spears might be engaged to former manager and longtime boyfriend Jason Trawick. At the time, the rumors proved untrue, but the couple was closer to the big event than one might think.

Trawick got down on one knee and asked Spears to marry him on Thursday night. According to Trawick’s subsequent interview with Access Hollywood, Spears’ two young sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James were able to share in the happy moment with the couple. After Spears, 30, enthusiastically said yes to 40 year-old Trawick, she then took to Facebook to tip fans off about the event.
“OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I’ve been waiting for. Can’t wait to show you! SO SO SO excited!!!! Xxo”

Spears seems more excited than the average 30 year-old, but she should be. After one bad marriage to Kevin Federline and one spur-of-the-moment 55-hour Vegas marriage, the pop princess seems to have found a committed person who is happy to be there for Spears as well as her two boys. Good for her. I’m sure it’s incredibly difficult to live a life dictated by handlers, and even at the grownup age of 30, it will be nice to have a stable shoulder around to lean on. Here’s to hoping the coming years bring tales of a fruitful marriage, and more importantly, some more kickass dance hits.
