People really need to stop comparing Lady Gaga and Madonna. While they're at it, they can stop comparing Britney Spears to Gaga. Christina Aguilera too. In fact, let's just like who we like and not put them against each other constantly. Can't we all just get along? These women have obvious similarities, but they're also very different from each other. I honestly have no interest in which one is the best. I just enjoy the music and the stage shows and then go on living my life, but apparently there are a lot of people who just can't do that. They have to compare and contrast, pick the winner, and put down who's left over.

Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier is one of those people. Check out what he said about Lady Gaga and Madonna:
"Working with Madonna has been a fabulous experience, one of the best of my career. We have the same vision. She’s unique. She’s feminine, but at the same time, she’s the biggest man I know. She’s an incredible woman. Nobody can be like Madonna. She does things that Madonna has already done. Madonna is also very beautiful. She can be a blonde, a redhead, black-haired. Lady Gaga can’t do it.”

I have to say, I agree and disagree with Gaultier. Madonna is one of a kind. I don't think any female pop star has topped her yet and I don't think that anyone will for a very long time. It's really not fair to compare Lady Gaga to her, though. Madonna has had almost thirty years to prove what a legendary artist she really is. Gaga is in the beginning of what appears like it will be a very long and illustrious career. I think it will be very interesting to see what comes from her in the future. Whatever it is, I don't think I'll be bored. Also, for the record, I think she can pull off many different hair colors. Sheesh, Gaultier, you didn't like her turquoise wigs?

On the other hand, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind that Gaga has intentionally copied things Madonna and other artists have already done. Anyone who listens to her hit single "Born This Way" can hear the similarity to Madonna's "Express Yourself." There are certain looks Gaga has sported that are so Madonna I may as well be looking at a picture of the real thing. However, Madonna herself has done the same thing. Hello, remember the Marilyn Monroe days? Does the "Material Girl" video ring any bells? What I'm saying is this: everyone draws inspiration from those who came before. I think Gaga does take a lot of ideas from other artists, but she also puts a spin on it and makes them her own. When it comes down to it, I think there is plenty of room in the pop music landscape for both women. Let's let these fabulous ladies conquer the charts without putting them on Celebrity Deathmatch, shall we?
