Hilary Swank has been going above and beyond to apologize after wishing the President of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, a happy birthday at his celebratory event on October 5. Her appearance, which Swank earned a six-figure paycheck for, has come under fire from human rights groups who contend he has ruled through oppression and force. Since the event, Swank has been compliant with many of the protesters demands; however, today she went a step further.

After apologizing for the fiasco and then pledging the money received from the event to charity, Swank likely could have left the whole nasty business behind her. However, it seems the two-time Oscar winner felt she hadn’t done enough.

Swank has fired a good percentage of her team, including her manager Jason Weinberg, whom she has worked with for eight years. According to E!, also fired were CAA agents Amie Yavor and Josh Lieberman. Getting rid of those who were there for her horrible decision making process is a pretty extreme method of cleaning her slate; however, she really has been getting flak and perhaps this was the best way the actress could find to start anew in the news.

Swank got into pretty deep waters by going to the event, but she was by no means the only celebrity there. Jean Claude Van Damme notoriously even told President Kadyrov that he loved him. At the end of the day, Swank was the big name at the event and as such has had to pay more dearly. Here’s to hoping Swank will do her research in the future before she decides to test the waters.
