Maksim Chmerkovskiy is either great at generating headlines or difficult to get along with. There’s really no other option, especially now that the professional dancer is caught up in his third feud rumor of the season. First, he very publicly blew up at head judge Len Goodman. Then tensions between himself and Derek Hough leaked to the media. He denied there was any issue with the latter, but after his maybe-joking-maybe-not comments about Carrie Ann last night, it seems a pattern of aggressive behavior may be emerging.

Not surprisingly, this newest issue started with a critique of his and pattern Hope Solo’s dancing. Carrie Ann admonished the two over their lack of fluidity, leading to an annoyed smile from Maks and a rebuttal from the judge. “Fuck Carrie Ann”, he told Entertainment Weekly in a joking voice after the show, but he later continued long enough to make one wonder just how much humor there was to his original quote.
“I don’t know what it is. I would love to know what it is so I can address it. But as of now, I have no clue … I think it was a great night. I totally disagree with the scores, but what else is new?”

“I go to sleep with a very clear conscience because I say everything that is on my mind,”

That Maks always says everything on his mind has never been a question but whether or not his occasional hostility helps with the judges is another question entirely. Personally, I like the outspoken dancer because he’s good at his job and even better at entertaining the crowd. Still, I wouldn’t argue with a little tact every now and again.
