Being the son or daughter of someone unbelievably great at what they do for a living is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it affords the child the luxury of spending his or her free time pursuing random passions. From guitar lessons to soccer to art classes, the kid almost always has real choice to experiment. On the other hand, with that freedom comes a host of expectations. I can’t even imagine how much worse it must be for a celebrity. Kurt Cobain’s daughter Frances Bean, now eighteen, has been an intern at Rolling Stone, a guest vocalist on albums and an artist with her own gallery show, cutely titled Scumfuck. Now she’s taken to modeling. Have a look at two of the pictures below…

The above photographs come from a long series of stills for acclaimed fashion designer Hedi Slimane. The entire catalog features Frances Bean Cobain in various places wearing a host of different outfits. All convey an attractive girl doing her best to look disenchanted. Some of that malcontent is likely due to her tattoos, the lighting and the backgrounds, one picture displays a tattered American flag, but I have to say, a bit emo for my taste or not, she’s a decent enough model. To be honest, I wouldn’t have even realized she was eighteen had I not just written a story about Nevermind’s 20th Anniversary. What a great way to feel old.

What do you think? Is this just another in a long series of random things Frances Bean Cobain has tried or does she actually have a future in modeling? Sound off by voting in the poll below…
