Steven Tyler Estimates He's Snorted More Than $5 Million Worth Of Coke

Steven Tyler has never hid the fact that he’s spent portions of his life addicted to various substances. In fact, he’s been in and out of rehab several times battling cocaine, but until this week, most people didn’t know exactly how bad the problem was. More specifically, none of us knew exactly how much money he spent feeding his habit. Turns out the answer is a hell of a lot.

According to TMZ, Tyler estimates he spent more than five or six million dollars over the course of his life. At the time, he felt like he needed the drug to get on stage, get him through touring and keep him in a positive frame of mind, but looking back, he now realizes how much it also took from him. It cost him his marriages, his relationship with his children and untold opportunities he either ignored or never came along because he was a mess.

Tyler made the big reveal this week during an interview with 60 Minutes Australia, but considering how frankly he’s spoken on the record the past few years, it shouldn’t come as a big surprise that he opened up. For his sake, I hope all such stories from now on will be references to his past and not new stories of blowing millions of dollars on drugs and costing himself opportunities, time with family and long-term health. Luckily, at this point, there’s no reason to think otherwise.
