Yes, I know this seems like a colossal stretch, but stranger things have happened. Country star and husband to Faith Hill Tim McGraw is reportedly considering a 2010 run for Tennessee Governor on the behest of the local Democratic Party. The current Governor, Conservative-leaning Democrat Phil Bredesen, is half way through his second term and cannot run again.

According to The Plank, the Democrats are expecting former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist to run on the Republican ticket; so, it’ll take a high-profile candidate to even compete with the extremely popular politician.

Tennessee actually does have a history of electing creative-types to political office. Former Presidential Candidate and star of Law & Order Fred Thompson represented the Volunteer State from 1994 until 2003. I guess it’ll all come down to how liberal Tim McGraw proves to be. The fine citizens of Tennessee have no problem electing a Democrat, but anyone branded as even a moderate Liberal would get demolished.
