Bonnaroo, for those who don’t know, is a weekend filled with: music, drugs, booze, food, art, topless women, and did I mention drugs? This music festival is by far one of the most unique experiences of the past 100 years in the United States. After an amazing weekend of music, (with my coverage of the fest coming soon), there will always be a down side to the biggest party in the country. With over 90,000 people who attended Bonnaroo this year, 2 died. One was found dead outside his tent over the weekend, the other died of hyperthermia after being airlifted to a hospital.

Those hipsters/hippies who party too hard sometimes get a raw deal. It's very sad news because like most people who go to Bonnaroo with the hopes of meeting new friends, finding the best pot in the country, and listening to great bands there are always those who are looking for the harder stuff the festival unofficially offers. USA Today reports that there has been no autopsy done on the bodies yet, but as someone who was there, it's hard not to think that it could have been drug related, due to the nature of where they were.

Trust me when I say this, it didn’t happen because of a lack of effort. The Bonnaroo staff and “safety” personal were very helpful to the people “using” substances that might have gotten them dehydrated enough to die, but you can’t save them all. With the biggest party in the county going on over the course of 4 days, there is always something bad waiting to happen, and sadly, this may be a case of two roo’ers that partied too hard. Whomever they might have been, rest in peace.
