At 2:30 a.m. yesterday morning (Wednesday June 18th), Jay Jenkins a.k.a Young Jeezy was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia on account of several misdemeanor charges. The artist was pulled over on I-85 in a white corvette initially for speeding, and was then also charged with driving under the influence, having no tags on his car, having an open container in the vehicle, no proof of insurance, and reckless driving.

Atlanta-born Jenkins was booked into an Atlanta station shortly after the arrest, and was released on bail only hours later, according to E!, and is due to follow up the arrest in court on July 17th.

The 31-year old, not so young “Young Jeezy,” performed at Atlanta’s Hot 107.9’s 13th annual Birthday Bash the weekend previous to his arrest. MTV compared the concert to New York City’s Summer Jam, as it included performances from some of the biggest names on the Hip-Hop/Rap scene including Usher, Ludacris, T.I., and Kanye West. Apparently, the rapper was driving around so late because he had just left the studio from working on his newest album The Recession, or possibly the nearest strip club- you choose.
