Demi Moore has done very well for herself. Between her divorce settlement with Bruce Willis and the loot she earned in Hollywood over the past few decades, she’s rumored to be worth more than one hundred million dollars. That’s far more than her soon-to-be ex-husband Ashton Kutcher can claim, but that hasn’t stopped the starlet from asking for spousal support in her court documents.

The argument goes a little something like this. She may have come into the marriage with way more money, but during the marriage her husband did better financially and over the next decade, he’s expected to make a lot more money. Consequently, she would like a piece of that action and is hoping the judge will grant it.

There’s about a snowball’s chance in hell of that actually happening given her financial situation, but there may be another motive in play. According to TMZ, both sides are currently at the negotiating table trying to resolve the financial terms of the divorce. Asking for spousal support hypothetically gives Demi one more area in which she can compromise to try and gain leverage somewhere else.

We’ll let you know whenever these two finally reach a settlement. For their sake, I hope that happens sooner rather than later. Spending too much time wrestling over money that can’t possibly improve quality of life has never made anyone happier over the long haul, and this won’t be the first case to break that streak.
