Rocky Balboa (Rocky VI) Synopsis

The greatest underdog story of our time is back for one final round of the Academy Award-winning Rocky franchise, former heavyweight champion Rocky Balboa steps out of retirement and back into the ring, pitting himself against a new rival in a dramatically different era. After a virtual boxing match declares Rocky Balboa the victor over current champion Mason "The Line" Dixon, the legendary fighter's passion and spirit are reignited. But when his desire to fight in small, regional competitions is trumped by promoters calling for a rematch of the cyber-fight, Balboa must weigh the mental and physical risks of a high profile exhibition match against his need to be in the ring.

Sly Stallone kicks off his good old days world tour with Rocky VI. Didn't we all get tired of this character after Rocky III? The world can live without six movies about Rocky. If Harrison Ford is too old to revisit Indy, then what does that make Stallone and Rocky? Some guys just can't grow old gracefully.

With six features spread out over 30 years, Sylvester Stallone's Rocky Balboa has had plenty of time in the spotlight, so while the franchise is ready to expand once more, it won't be doing so with the Italian Stallion as its lead. Instead, a new spinoff is in the works and will be titled Creed, with starring duties falling to the young, talented Michael B. Jordan.

Creed will focus on Michael B. Jordan’s yet-to-be-named grandson and his struggles balancing a well-off lifestyle with the instincts to follow in his grandfather’s footsteps to become a boxing heavyweight champion. His family doesn’t want him to get into the ring, but his natural athletic gifts are just too strong, so he enlists the initially uninterested Balboa to become his trainer. This isn’t exactly the most original story, as you can imagine.
