HBO To Adapt The Kids Are All Right To A TV Pilot

The Kids Are All Right isn’t exactly a film that screams, “Make this into a TV show!” however, the story definitely has the potential to work well as a drama series, which is what HBO is looking to do with it as the network is planning to develop a pilot based on the Oscar nominated film.

Deadline posted the news stating that HBO is looking to turn The Kids Are All Right into an hour-long series. The pilot will be written by Lisa Cholodenko, who co-wrote and directed the film. From what Deadline says, the show will continue the story introduced in the film.

The Kids Are All Right starred Annette Bening and Julianne Moore, who played a same-sex couple with two children, each conceived by artificial insemination. Mark Ruffalo played the biological father, who resurfaces in the family’s life, causing major problems in the process. If the TV show manages to capture the drama, humor, heart and excellent displays of emotion from the film, HBO could be looking at a real winner here. Of course, they’d also need to find two actresses who could do justice to the roles originally played by Moore and Bening.
