Back in August news broke that NBC won the bidding war for Sarah Silverman’s comedy pilot. Things appear to be moving in the right direction for the project, which is loosely based on Silverman’s life, as NBC has picked it up up to pilot.
According to Deadline, actress/comedian Sarah Silverman’s TV pilot with Imagine TV and 20th Century Fox TV, has been given the green light by NBC. The half-hour pilot has yet to be given a title, but will star Silverman, who will play a woman just coming out of a ten year relationship and trying to figure out how to be single again. The pilot will have Silverman writing alongside Dan Sterling and Jon Schroeder, both of whom wrote for Comedy Central’s The Sarah Silverman Show.
While we should probably expect a more toned down version of Silverman’s style of comedy, should this pilot go to series, at the very least, it’s a single-camera comedy, which means there’s a chance it won’t be the next Whitney. I’m as much a fan of Silverman as I am of Whitney Cummings as comedians. Unfortunately, I don’t think Whitney does Cummings’ humor justice. Let’s hope the same isn’t the case for Silverman’s project.
