T.I. Joins Starz' Boss For Season 2

Rapper T.I.’s acting credits are slim, with a few movie appearances and a guest spot on Entourage under his belt, but that’s about to change in what sounds like a big way. The artist has reportedly signed on for a role in Starz’ returning series Boss.

According to Deadline, Boss is set to begin production on its second season in Chicago next week. The series stars Kelsey Grammer as the ruthless Tom Kane, a man who is secretly suffering a brain condition and also happens to be the mayor of Chicago. T.I. is set to join the series for a season-long arc, playing Trey, “a former gangbanger with designs on a career in Chicago’s City Hall who represents a symbiosis between politics and crime in Chicago.” He’s also said to be a conduit between a local Alderman and gangs, which sounds interesting in a potentially dangerous sort of way. Deadline describes it as a "guest arc," so we might not expect to see him beyond Season 2.

T.I.’s won Grammys for his rap music, but this bit of casting indicates that he might be looking to expand further on his acting career. His last role had him starring alongside Chris Brown, Hayden Christensen, Matt Dillon, Idris Elba and Michael Ealy in the John Luessenhop directed film Takers back in 2010. It’s going to be very interesting to see what he brings to Boss, which has already demonstrated great performances on the part of its cast.
