Parks & Recreation And Up All Night Renewed By NBC

UPDATE: Word is coming in now that the Parks & Recreation is for 22, not 13, episodes. Even better!

After hesitating just long enough to make a lot of fans nervous, NBC has finally made commitments for another season of two of its hit comedies, Parks & Recreation and Up All Night. Like network siblings Community and 30 Rock, they've only gotten orders for 13 episodes, but according to Hitfix Parks will be returning in the fall, which leaves plenty of room for the network to order another nine episodes for the spring season.

And despite rumors that Parks might be entering its fifth and final season, there's no indication right now that NBC is planning to wrap up the series, as it's planning to do for 30 Rock. So breathe easy on that one, proud citizens of Pawnee.

Earlier this month, as part of our series of pleas to the TV gods to save our favorite shows from cancellation, I stuck up for Up All Night as a sitcom that's maybe a little more traditional than the other shows NBC is doing, but just as funny and reliable as many of the network's critically beloved shows. I was less worried about Parks & Recreation getting another season, so while I probably love Parks & Rec more, I'm more relieved to see Up All Night return to the schedule. With all four of its Thursday night shows now set to return, it's unclear what NBC will be bringing to their schedule that's new, though with their upfront scheduled for next week, the picture will become a lot clearer shortly.

Let us know what you're hoping for from the new seasons of Parks & Recreation and Up All Night in the comments below.
