Mariana Klaveno Cast As Lily Munster Pending Release From Devious Maids

NBC’s Munsters reboot may just have their leading lady – if she can get out of her other obligations. NBC has cast Mariana Klaveno to play Lily Munster on Mockingbird Lane, the updated version of the classic series. Klaveno is already signed on for Devious Maids which was recently passed up at ABC but could find a new home at Lifetime – a gig that could cost her Lily.

It looks like NBC is willing to do just about anything to get Klaveno on board as Lily though. Deadline says that the network is considering letting her recur on Maids if it does get picked up by Lifetime, in return for having her in first position for Mockingbird Lane. So far, ABC is unwilling to release her from her contract and there's no word as to why. She’s not one of the stars on Maids, and only played a small role in the passed-up pilot, which makes me wonder why ABC doesn't want to let her go.

Casting for the reboot has been a source of much speculation and interest. Lily is the last of the major roles to be cast. Already on board are Eddie Izzard as Grandpa Munster, Jerry O-Connell as Herman Munster, Mason Cook as Eddie, and Charity Wakefield as cousin Marilyn. Mariana Klaveno would be the last major piece of the puzzle, if they can get her to fall into place. Lily Munster has definitely been the casting I’ve been most curious about. Klaveno is best known for playing Bill’s maker Lorena on True Blood. Is she a Lily Munster? NBC certainly seems to think so, as it’s pretty clear they really want her for the role. We’ll have to wait and see if she can escape her ABC contract.
