Massey Brothers Suing Bristol Palin's New Lifetime Reality Series

When Lifetime announced Bristol Palin: Life’s A Tripp, a new show following Bristol Palin as she finishes up her tenure in Los Angeles and moves back to Alaska to be near her family, the show seemed similar to another reality show Palin recently had in the works. The earlier series, set for Bio, was supposed to follow Palin after she moved with her 3-year-old son to Los Angeles to room with Disney stars Christopher and Kyle Massey. The show was scrapped after Palin opted to return to Alaska to reside, instead. Life's a Tripp begins with Palin moving to Los Angeles and because both shows were meant to give audiences a foothold into Palin’s everyday life as a single mom, Palin's former roommates the Massey brothers believe they have some rights to the money associated with Lifetime’s brand new show.

The actor brothers have now filed a lawsuit against the Life’s A Tripp series producer ATI. According to Deadline, the brothers believe they came up with the concept for the show and they are seeking both money and permanent injunction because of the lack of credit they feel they should have gotten. The boy’s mother, Angel, is also involved in the lawsuit.

This seems to be a case of the boys feeling misused, but it is difficult to tell from the filing exactly what sort of creative input the boys had with the Bio series. Regardless, it’s not like Bio asked Palin to move and then recreated a whole new show for her in Alaska. Because the first two-episodes of the show do highlight Palin's stint in Los Angeles, I can see how the Massey boys find the whole thing unsavory if not a little unfair. Still, because Palin will primarily find herself doing activities in Alaska during the tenure of the program, a lawsuit seems to be going overboard. We’ll keep you posted on whether or not the boys actually have a case.

In the meantime, you can catch Bristol Palin: Life’s A Tripp Tuesdays on Lifetime at 10 p.m. ET.
