Louie Preview: Season 3 - Strawberries, Beach Bodies And Melissa Leo

Louie is back! Louis C.K.'s fantastic comedy series returned last Thursday night with a new episode, and having seen the first handful of episodes, I can say with certainty that Season 3 only gets better from here. The clips ahead offer a small hint of that.

The reactions we see in Louie are a part of what makes the show so hilarious. It's the subtly, especially on the part of the title character, that brings out the absolute best in the humor. Take the preview for this Thursday night's episode ("Telling Jokes/Set Up"), which has him at a dinner and meeting a woman who could end up being the woman of his dreams. Ok, probably not. But Melissa Leo is pretty fantastic in this guest role and we get just a little taste of that in this clip…

I love everything from the way she keeps scraping her her knife and fork against the plate to the look she gives him after he comments on her owning her own business. That added to his sort of blank-faced reaction cracks me up. And there's so much more where that came from in Episode 2.

These next two clips are actually from the third episode, titled "Miami," but they're too great not to share right away. In Episode 3 of Season 3, Louie takes a trip to Miami and finds himself surrounded by beautiful bikini bodies and apparently, strawberry thieves.

I love the look on his face as he looks around. It's like he thinks he's stepped onto the wrong beach when he looks around and realizes not one of the people around him looks like him. And then he makes a Louie-face and puts his shirt down.

This one demonstrates Louie's refusal to just let things go…

Of course he calls her out. And she stands there looking confused for a moment, because you know she probably eats people's strawberries all the time and no one has ever said no before.

I love Louie.

Louie airs Thursdays at 10:30 p.m. ET on FX.
