David Spade And Rachael Harris Sign On For Bad Management

ABC has added some fairly big casting names to its Bad Management pilot. Rules of Engagement’s David Spade has joined the pilot as has The Hangover’s Rachael Harris. The two will co-star in the pilot, which is being written by Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh. They will join Horgan, who has also already been cast in the pilot.

Bad Management is a workplace comedy set in a high-end department store. It will star Hogan as the boss lady with a very specific outlook for the store. Spade and Harris will also work within the store, although Spade’s character will shake things up a bit more. Deadline is reporting that Spade will play Tobias, the son of the chain owner who decides to turn the company on its head and focus on youth appeal (Remember when this happened on Parenthood to Adam’s shoe company? Fans of that show know how that event went down). Harris is set as a lead, as well, but so far all we know about her character is that she is an employee named Linda who must learn to say no to spray tanning.

The pilot’s most recent castings can be taken as good news or bad news, depending on how you look at. Signing Spade is great for ABC’s pilot, but is certainly bad news for Rules of Engagement, whose cast members have all been shopping around for new gigs. Additionally, Harris was signed on for a Fox pilot earlier this year called Dirty Blondes. The forecast for that project isn’t so hot, either. I would be happy to see both Harris and Spade appear on ABC come fall, but it’s always a little sad when one door opens up because another one is closing.

It should be noted that should Rules of Engagement return, Spade would be contractually obligated to that show, first.
