Lisa Kudrow's Celebrity Genealogy Show Who Do You Think You Are Gets A Comeback At TLC

NBC aired three seasons of the genealogy documentary series Who Do You Think You Are? before canceling it last year. Now it looks like the show is getting a second chance, as TLC has reportedly picked it up for a new season, which will debut in July. Production has already begun.

Who Do You Think You Are? is based on a British series and produced by Lisa Kudrow and Dan Bucatinsky. Each episode follows a different celebrity as they dig into their genealogy to explore their family history. This usually involves a bit of traveling and interviewing someone who can tell them a bit more about their family, and may also involve meeting distant relatives. Not only does the series showcase genealogy, but the featured celebrities let the cameras document their journey, which allows viewers an inside look into their background as they learn new information about where they came from. Featured celebrities include Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Brooke Shields, Steve Buscemi, Gwyneth Paltrow and Lionel Richie.

The Wrap reports that TLC has picked up the NBC series and given it an order for eight new one-hour episodes. The series will return July 23, and production is already underway. Among the celebrities set to appear in the new season are Christina Applegate, Cindy Crawford and Zooey Deschanel.

It's great to hear that Kudrow's show is getting a comeback. From what I saw of the series when it was on NBC, it was a great mix of educational and entertaining. Speaking of Kudrow and comebacks, think there's a cable channel out there (or Netflix, Amazon, etc) willing to bring The Comeback back?
