Under The Dome Ratings Down But Still Solid, NBC's Siberia Ratings Fall Short

It seemed a likelihood that Under the Dome's ratings would dip some from its especially strong premiere last week, so it's not entirely surprising to see the drama's numbers fall in its second episode. With that said, Under the Dome actually held up pretty well, all things considered, with a 15% drop from last week's viewers, but still managing to surpass ten million viewers. NBC's new series Siberia didn't do nearly as well. In fact, the series came in last in its timeslot, which it shares with Under the Dome at 10:00 p.m. on Monday night.

TVLine posted the Monday-night ratings, announcing that Under the Dome scored another win for CBS, earning a 2.8 demo rating and 11.5 million total viewers. The series, which is based on Stephen King's novel by the same name, slipped by the mentioned 15% from last week's impressive ratings, but still came out on top, particularly ahead of NBC's new scripted faux-reality series Siberia, which made its way onto the line-up to a meager 3.2 million viewers and a 1.1 rating. Siberia not only fell behind Under the Dome, but also its other competition over at ABC. Mistresses was up 6% and a tenth with 3.8 million viewers and a 1.2 rating.

Earlier in the night, NBC had a bit more luck in the ratings with American Ninja Warrior, which earned 4.9 million viewers, and - at the very least - did better than Siberia, though its numbers are down from its last premiere. But as TVLine points out, it had an America's Got Talent lead-in for that, which would make a noticeable difference. In other news, The Bachelorette earned 6.3 million viewers for ABC.

Though Mistresses certainly offers a bit of competition for Siberia, I'm going to speculate that Under the Dome will be Siberia's biggest rival at ten o'clock on Monday nights. While one is a straight-up drama and the other is a faux-realty show-drama, from what we've seen from the trailer, things will eventually go awry in Siberia, putting this group of contestants into a scary situation in a secluded environment, which isn't all that far off from what Under the Dome's offering in its own way. Granted, Under the Dome could continue to slip in its numbers, and Siberia could manage to gain some traction in the coming weeks, but based on last night's ratings, Siberia has a lot of catching up to do if it wants to make a dent in CBS' Dome.
