Ted's Kids Strike Back In How I Met Your Mother Comic-Con Video

Fans of How I Met Your Mother have joked for years about Ted's poor children, trapped on the couch while their dad spends 8 years of television going on and on about his youth in New York, hoping he'll eventually get to the actual point of the story about how their parents met. If you want to be unkind to the show, you could even say the viewers were just like those kids, stuck through 8 years of a season that maybe should have ended by now. But now that HIMYM has leaned into the joke, with this video that screened at their Comic-Con panel today, are we all a little more inclined to forgive them?

I, for one, am just happy to see Lyndsy Fonseca and David Henrie all grown up, and seeming to really relish throwing a few F-bombs at the disembodied voice of Bob Saget, who just can't believe they're not interested in hearing about his Greek yogurt breakfast and the million other inane anecdotes he's told them over the years. You're never going to hear an F-bomb dropped in the middle of an actual CBS sitcom, so it's fun to see the show's writers-- or whoever wrote this snippet-- able to work blue for a minute.

As for the panel that followed, which you can read about in its entirety here, it was the first time that the cast and creators had ever been to Comic-Con, and they revealed that, yes, the entire final season will take place over the course of Robin and Barney's wedding weekend-- but that a lot of flash-forwards and flashbacks will pad it out too. And given that it's a wedding between two major characters, there are tons of opportunities for other characters to make a return-- "If it's somebody we loved over the course of the series, there's a good chance they're coming back." My money goes to the return of Ranjit the limo driver, Wendy the waitress… who else?

Other recent reveals about the final season of HIMYM include news of a guest appearance from The Office's Ellie Kemper and a season premiere date of September 23. Check out the panel recap for everything else, and seriously, share which characters you want to see returning in the comments.
